Don’t Get Cockblocked by Your Unconscious Mind

How Hypnosis can help overcome male sexual performance anxiety.
Sex can be as daunting as it is enjoyable. Everyone knows sex is healthy, it burns calories as a cardio exercise, and it is fun. Men who suffer erectile dysfunction loose the enjoyment of the act because they face the odds that they might not be able to deliver on what they promise. They experience sexual performance anxiety. Hypnosis can treat erectile dysfunction and turn the anxiety of sexual performance into the relaxation of sensual rehearsal.
Unless there is a medical reason for an individual’s erectile dysfunction, sexual performance anxiety isn’t that much different from stage fright. There are tricks to overcome the idea of being seen poorly in public. Performers psyche themselves up before they go on stage. They may be plagued with self-doubt but they don’t let the expectation of failure overcome the thrill of doing a show. An actor who is worried about forgetting his lines is not much different from a man who is worried that he might not be able to get an erection when the time is right.
The actor doesn’t let the butterflies in his stomach keep him off the stage and a man who has occasional problems performing in bed shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed or avoid sex or treat it like labor. The more weight a person places on the expectation of the performance, the more they sabotage themselves. A person does as well as they believe they can do and if they believe they will fail, they have more of a chance of fulfilling that expectation. But they can be taught to change that belief.
A negative belief happens when a person is exposed to a negative situation and sometimes can be traced to a specific event. The event could be traumatic or merely embarrassing but it can make a person critical of themselves. They over-think the incident and fixate on the idea so strongly that it will repeat itself in the person’s unconscious mind. But the memory of the incident can be looked at in such a way that a person can learn from it, rather than dread it.
The unconscious mind doesn’t want to undermine a person’s confidence by reminding them of a negative event and it can be programmed away from negative expectations. Hypnosis helps break connections with the past by convincing the unconscious mind that the past is the past. It is finished and should not affect ongoing thought processes anymore. This, along with positive suggestions about sexual performance, helps the mind accept the pleasure and forget the fear of sex.
If you suffer from erectile dysfunction, you’re not alone. According to recent studies, about 22 percent of men over 40 and up to 49 percent of men over 70 experience erectile dysfunction. Many factors affect sexual performance. Illnesses like diabetes or conditions such as high blood pressure can cause impotence. Smoking cigarettes diminishes blood circulation. Hypnosis can be used to help a person make lifestyle changes like losing weight or exercising. It can also be used to change behaviors to improve blood circulation which will strengthen erections.
Studies published in the British Journal of Urology International (2003) and Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology (1997) attested to the efficacy of treating impotence that isn’t linked to physical causes. Hypnosis can be used in conjunction with prescribed testosterone, Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil hydrochloride), Cialis (tadalafil) and other phosphodiesterase inhibitors, which enhance the chemical nitric oxide, or oral drugs like yohimbine hydrochloride or dopamine or serotonin.
Hypnosis won’t program the unconscious mind to give someone an erection on demand, but it will help negate any feelings of rejection or anxiety. A person can be programmed to overcome blocks by immersing themselves in the touch, taste, appearance, scent and sounds of sex.
